FEMA- Federal Emergency Management Agency
FEMA is an agency of the United States Department of Homeland Security. The primary purpose of FEMA is to coordinate the response to a disaster that has occurred in the United States and that overwhelms the resources of local and state authorities. FEMA responds following severe earthquakes, floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, tsunamies, some terrorist attacks, wildfires and after other disasters where a State of Emergency has been declared.
FEMA’s mission is to support our citizens and first responders to ensure that as a nation we work together to build, sustain, and improve our capability to prepare for, protect against, respond to, recover from, and mitigate all hazards.”
The FEMA website is full of information to help you before, during and after a distaster. It offers information on getting prepared as well as how to stay informed. It can also guide you following a disaster so you can get the help you need and you and your family back up and running again.
The FEMA Library is available to help you find the resources you need, when you need them.
